Environmental health and toxins
I thought this article was a classic example of what Rachel Carson in her book, Silent Spring, was trying to convey. It has been a feat for mankind to attempt to control weeds and increase food production or create toxins to control animals that spread diseases. That the incidence of malaria can be decreased by targeting the mosquito that can spread it sounds like a good thing.The unintended consequences though should give us pause and should increase our awareness that introducing toxins into our environment is very serious business.
